Top Half Of Chevy Volt Revealed On Transformers 2 Set
It appears the top half of the 2010 Chevy Volt has been photographed on set at the filming of the new Transformers 2 movie and it gives away a lot of the styling cues which have been hidden from view up until now. The front of the greenhouse on the production Chevy Volt bears little resemblance to the concept, with smooth A-pillars, and a sweeping roof line, the side glass gets a more traditional, and actually quite nice shape. The tail definitely take inspiration from the original though.More »
2010 BMW V5 Spotted During Hot-Weather Testing
The artist previously known as the 2010 BMW V5 has been spotted during hot-weather testing and continues to confound everyone of its raison d'etre. Since it's no longer called the V5 apparently, we're just going to refer to it as the Mutt, since it's a mix of pretty much everything. The BMW Mutt appears to be about the size of a 5-series, but sporting a fifth-door hatch and no rear decklid. Completing the Mutt's look is a wide, BMW 7-series-style grille and enough cladding to make a styling guess nearly impossible. Seems to us BMW couldn't be happy with just the niche-UV BMW X6, so they're branching out to blur other segments. Full dazed-and-confused spy report below.More »
Shelby GT500KR Road Trip, Chapter IV: Death Valley Car Spy Photographers Are NOT Fooled By Manufacturer Plates
It was the Wert-spotting by Jalopnik reader Nick outside the Shelby HQ gave us an idea for our run through Death Valley yesterday on our Shelby GT500KR Road Trip. Would the car spies spending the summer months in the Valley of non-Life find the GT500KR with manufacturer plates a compelling enough target to shoot — perhaps thinking it to be some kind of development mule? After a quick 150 mile jaunt through the Valley's 110-degree temperatures yesterday afternoon, we found the answer to be "No." More »

Transformers 2 Corvette Centennial Design Concept Caught Filming Action Scene
We were the first to reveal the true identity of the General Motors Corvette Centennial Design Concept, and now it's been spotted not just driving around, but in a full-on action scene. Followed closely by a camera car, as well as other GM product-placement-bots like Bumblebee and Ironhide, it's hard to tell if that mean exhaust note you hear is coming from the 'Vette or not, but either way, we're just glad to see it's fully functional. [via TransformersLive]Lincoln MKT Spotted Testing In Hot Desert Sun
Mercury rising into the 120-degree range wasn't enough to stop the KGP photographers from grabbing a series of up-close photos of the Lincoln MKT doing a bit of extreme weather testing under tire-melting conditions. As reported, the MKT will be getting EcoBoosted with a 3.5-liter V6 good for 340 horsepower and 340 lb-ft of torque. As you'll notice from the photos, the MKT has the glass roof and huge rump from the concept car. More details in the spy report below.More »
chevrolet tacuma
We just got our hands on a set of photos of the 2011 Chevrolet Tacuma minivan, the would-be and should-be replacement for the Chevy Uplander, testing in Europe. The quick shutters at AutoScoop caught not one, but two of the minivans in full camouflage. As reported, this family hauler should be based on the Delta platform, which also underpins the Chevy Volt and Chevy Cruze. What will this new GM minivan be like?

Fast Lane Daily Spies Cadillac CTS Coupe, Cornucopia Of GM Products
Fast Lane Daily's insomniac spy photographer, Keith, spotted this abundant collection of General Motors products taking a break from some high-altitude testing in Colorado's Rocky Mountains. Most obvious is the 2010 Cadillac CTS Coupe, but also tagging along were a couple of small hatchbacks, one of which looks to be the 2011 Chevy Beat. One shot even shows what could be the 2011 Saturn Aura, or perhaps just the European Opel Insignia. All that and more in today's episode of Fast Lane Daily. Video after the jump. More »Next Jaguar XJ: A Hybrid Of Rapide And XF
Do not be deceived by the looks of this Jaguar XJ prototype. Like every XJ since the middle ages, it has whimsically droopy styling, but according to NextAutos, that old skin will soon be shed. They say the next XJ will combine an Aston Martin Rapide-like profile with front-end cues from the current Jaguar XF — though expect a proper boot in the rear as opposed to the Rapide's hatchback. If all that isn't enough to bring the old cat leaping back into relevance, the XJ may also be going green. More »Possible BMW X5M, X6M Prototypes Spotted In Spartanburg
Some are suggesting that the BMW X5 and X6 prototypes you see here will wear the sacred "M" badge when they reach production. The rules used to state that all BMW "M" cars must be naturally aspirated and rear-wheel-drive. But with rumors of turbochargers being bolted to future M-models, and now the prospect of these soft-roaders, presumably with power being sent to all four wheels, it looks like the rules laid down by the founding fathers are being shredded a-la the US constitution. But are we really seeing what we think we're seeing here?More »
2010 Toyota Sienna Spotted Testing In Desert, Not A Soccer Game In Sight
According to KGP, this is a prototype of the 2010 Toyota Sienna. We’re actually really thankful for this information, because we don't know much about the Sienna except that it’s Toyota's long-running entry in the minivan market and that it's scheduled to be replaced with an equally unexciting but slightly different model. Actually, we’ll just let you read KGP’s analysis for the full story on the upcoming people-hauler. Hit the jump for the full story.More »
Audi RS5 Caught Getting Hot In The California Desert
Audi's engineers did a fairly poor job of concealing the Audi RS5, the much-anticipated super-super GT from Audi, from the KGP photographers patrolling the California desert. The revised and menacing front bumper, silver side mirrors and lack of fog lamps is a fairly sure giveaway that this is the supremely sporty version of the A5. The question is, what can't we see? Is it the reported 4.2-Liter V8 out of the Audi RS4 beneath that sexy hood or is the twin-turbo V10 out of the wicked Audi RS6 motivating this mule? Conjecture and spy report below the jump.More »
2011 chevy beat
The fate of the Chevy Beat is still in limbo for US markets, but as we see here, that isn't stopping the ongoing development of the latest GM minicar. The Beat gets a buddy for some hot weather testing and we get a look at the interior for the first time. For a subcompact, it's hard to be surprised by the spartan accommodations and the long-handled shifter, but we do like the floating gauge pod mounted directly to what appears to be a tilting steering column. Coupled with a high seating arrangement and supposedly true-to-concept styling, the Beat is shaping up to be more than your average econo-beater.

audi r8s
Given the R8's brother-from-another-mother, the Lamborghini Gallardo, has been in drop-top form since 2006 it should come as no surprise we'd be seeing an Audi R8 Spyder at some point. Contrary to earlier reports, the R8 will not be a targa with a lift-off roof, but a genuine soft top convertible utilizing a similar, if not the same, stowage and roof design as the Gallardo Spyder. Hit the jump for our rendering of what the new 2010 Audi R8 Spyder may look like.

Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 May Get Towing Package
Based on spy photos the Detroit News appears to have received from a reader, Jeep's hot-rod mid-size SUV may soon be able to pull your boat. According to their report, the 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 has been spotted with the dual center-mounted exhaust outlets moved to one-per-side, and the test mule was seen pulling a trailer. Jeep hasn't revealed any power numbers for the next Jeep SRT8, but we have to believe they should at least match the current Grand Cherokee SRT8's 425 HP and 420 lb-ft of torque. Last time we looked that was plenty of pulling power for most suburban enthusiasts. [Detroit News]
Saturn Aura Redline
Judging from these shots taken by KGP at the Nürburgring, GM is already working up a high-performance version of the new Opel Insignia. Suspected to be powered by a twin-turbo version of the 2.8-liter V6 found in the standard Insignia, the added boost should up output to at least 300 HP. In Britain, the car will likely be called the Vauxhall Insignia VXR, but the rest of Europe will know it as the Opel Insignia OPC. There's no official word on plans to bring the car stateside as a Saturn Aura Redline, but with the possibility of an AWD system like that on the Saab 9-3 Turbo X, such a car could be an affordable Audi alternative for those of us living in the snowbelt. Full spy report below the jump.

2010 honda hybrid
Honda seems to be lifting design cues directly from Ford on its new Honda hybrid — you know, the one definitely not named Insight. We thought that grille looked familiar when we first saw it a few weeks ago, but this up close and personal image confirms it — Honda, meet Dave... Dave, Honda. Hope you two can get along after the cease-and-desists start rolling in.

2009 Honda Civic Sedan Brochure Gives Away Scantastic Changes
Thanks to Honda's proactive dealer direct mailings and an enthusiast with a scanner, we now have a good look at the upcoming 2009 Honda Civic sedan. The biggest change is up front, where the new Civic will get the family smile thanks to a redesigned grille and front fascia. Out back, the lighting has been tweaked, but not substantially. Two trim levels have been added: The DX-VP and LX-S, presumably a value and sport package, respectively, helping Civic tweak its price points for broader appeal. The whole thing has an "incremental improvement" quality about it, which — along with "incremental weight gain" — is the same formula that's worked for Civic for about 30 years now.
